Deep hollows and knots in the stump show through the finish, so the base reads like root sculpture beneath a working surface.

The Sculptural Look

The stump's roots twist and spread low across the floor before rising into a single trunk that meets the underside of the slab off to one side. Because the top cantilevers so far past that trunk, the slab appears to float along most of its length, an effect only a dense, stable root base can support. The grain in the slab and in the stump runs in different directions, so the live edge up top and the carved hollows below read as two distinct textures on one piece. Every hollow and knot sits exactly where the tree grew it, rather than being planned or carved in afterward.

Material And Craft

Wood: solid natural wood

Because the slab overhangs the base, keep heavier items near the center

Finish: hand-finished to show the natural grain and warm texture; available in four tones, Oak, Brown, Walnut and Black, at one price, only size changes the price

Where To Place It

Its long cantilever makes the most sense wherever the overhang can be seen from more than one angle.

As a true statement console against a living room wall

In an entryway, the first thing seen past the door

Behind a sofa, with the long end floating past the armrest

In a loft or open-plan space as a room-divider surface

Styled with a single vase or bowl so the base stays the focus

Dust with a soft dry cloth.

Handmade note: Built by hand after checkout, so allow for small natural differences in grain, texture and tone; no photo can show your exact piece.

https://rusticinterior.co/products/live-edge-console-table-on-tree-root-stump-base-cantilevered-solid-woo
