Four wide mushroom caps stack on the wall in our Sculptural Live Edge Wall Shelf With Fanned Mushroom Caps For Living Room, a live edge floating shelf with fanned gill lines carved into the underside of each one. The flat tops take books, a small plant or a keepsake, while the carved undersides do the sculptural work.

The Sculptural Look

The fanned lines radiate out from the center of each cap's underside, carved just like the gills of a real mushroom, which is the detail that pushes the piece toward sculptural art rather than a plain floating ledge. Every rim keeps a soft, wavy live edge instead of a straight cut, echoing the organic outline of the caps above. Stacked as the full set of four shown, the caps increase gradually in size from top to bottom, building a composition rather than four identical repeats. Because the carving sits underneath, it is visible only when viewed from below or at an angle, which rewards a closer look.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.
