Keep the room quiet and low to the floor with our Japandi Freeform Coffee Table With Flowing Sculpted Base For Living Room, its freeform top with a soft natural edge set on a sculpted base that rises at each end and dips low between them, leaving a wide open centre. The restraint makes it a genuine japandi coffee table rather than just a generic natural wood coffee table.

Japandi Form And Detail

The base stays open through the middle, letting the grain of the wood show from every side rather than hiding it behind a solid support. Edges on the freeform top are kept soft and uneven rather than perfectly symmetrical, in keeping with the quiet, imperfect character of japandi design. Nothing on the piece is carved with hard lines; every curve flows into the next.

Because the middle of the base is open, the grain of the supports is visible from the front, the back and both ends, not hidden behind an apron. Each table is shaped by hand, so the figure is never repeated.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

It is absolutely gorgeous-even more beautiful than I imagined-and every detail reflects Sefa's incredible talent, care, and craftsmanship. One of the most special parts of this experience was being able to watch the entire process, from the original rough walnut planks, to seeing them shaped and sanded, and finally to seeing the finished table in my home. It was so much fun to watch, and it made me appreciate the table and the work behind it even more. This is not simply a piece of furniture-it is truly a one-of-a-kind work of art that feels personal and special. Our family will gather around it, enjoy it, and admire it for many years to come. Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.
Does the item require assembly?

Most items arrive ready to use. Larger shelving and tables ship in a few parts with the fixings and instructions included; assembly is straightforward and needs no special tools.
How is the timber treated?

All timber is kiln dried and treated before finishing, which removes moisture and any insects. Pieces are then sealed with a protective finish.
