A thick freeform top with a natural live edge sits on a single pedestal that twists up from a wide foot and splits beneath the top like a carved root, with our Mid Century Console Table With Twisting Pedestal Base For Living Room, a mid century entryway table built around one sculpted support instead of four legs. The rich grain follows every curve of the twist.

The Mid Century Look

The pedestal widens at the floor, twists as it rises, and splits into two points just below the top, giving the base a rooted, grounded feel under a thick, live-edge slab. That combination, a heavy organic base holding a flat, functional top, echoes the sculptural furniture of the mid-century period more than a straight-leg design would. As a modern wood console table, it still has room above for a vase and a few books.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.

How is the timber treated?
