A carved root-like base carries plenty of character under a simple top on our Rustic Live Edge Writing Desk With Carved Root Base For Study Room, a live edge desk built for quiet focus.

Rustic Live Edge Form And Detail

The thick top keeps natural wavy edges on both sides, resting on a carved root-like base of curved legs with open oval cut-outs joined by a low arched stretcher. That carved base gives the writing desk its rustic weight, while a low riser across the back is divided into three open cubbies for books, papers and pens. The result is a desk with storage built into the silhouette instead of added drawers.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

One of the most special parts of this experience was being able to watch the entire process, from the original rough walnut planks, to seeing them shaped and sanded, and finally to seeing the finished table in my home. It was so much fun to watch, and it made me appreciate the table and the work behind it even more. This is not simply a piece of furniture-it is truly a one-of-a-kind work of art that feels personal and special. Our family will gather around it, enjoy it, and admire it for many years to come. Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.

Most items arrive ready to use. Larger shelving and tables ship in a few parts with the fixings and instructions included; assembly is straightforward and needs no special tools.
How is the timber treated?
