Our Modern Live Edge Floating Wall Shelf With Raw Edge For Living Room is a live edge floating shelf shown here as a set of two slimmer boards, each with a rough, chiseled front edge and a straight back mounted with no visible hardware. Clean enough for a study or reading nook, it still reads as a modern floating shelf with character.

Minimalist Form And Detail

The board itself stays slim and straight-backed, closer to a standard shelf than a thick slab, which keeps the overall look quiet rather than heavy. Only the front edge breaks that simplicity, left rough and chiseled instead of sanded flat. Sized modestly with no visible bracket underneath, it works well as a small wall shelf where a full-depth slab would feel like too much.

Chiseled front, straight back

A slim board with a rough front lip

The back edge sits tight and straight against the wall, while the front edge is broken up in a chiseled, uneven line that throws small shadows in low light. At about 2" thick the board stays slim, so the raw edge does the talking without making the wall feel heavy.

No brackets show under the shelf, so from the side it looks like the board grows out of the plaster.

About the chiseled live edge

Is the front edge the same on every shelf?
No. The edge is shaped by hand, so its line and the knots along it differ from board to board, even within a set.
Are the vases, frame and books included?
No. They are styling for the photos. You receive the wood shelf or shelves in the set you pick.
What does a set mean?
A Set of 2, 3 or 4 gives you that many matching shelves, all in the width you select.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

Are the colours exactly as shown in the photos?

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.
Does the item require assembly?

Most items arrive ready to use. Larger shelving and tables ship in a few parts with the fixings and instructions included; assembly is straightforward and needs no special tools.
How is the timber treated?

All timber is kiln dried and treated before finishing, which removes moisture and any insects. Pieces are then sealed with a protective finish.
Do you offer customisation?

Yes. Size, finish and fixing position can be adjusted on most pieces. Send us the dimensions you need and we will confirm the price and lead time before you order.
How should I care for the piece?
