A smooth top sits over a deep front face left in burl swirls, knots and natural checks in our Handcrafted Floating Bathroom Vanity With Thick Burl Edge. The heavy burl front makes this a rustic wood bath vanity with real weight hanging off the wall.

Shape And Rustic Burl Character

The top surface is planed flat for the basin, but the thick front face is left rough, showing burl grain that swirls and knots rather than running in straight lines. Natural checks and small voids stay visible across the front, kept rather than filled, so the texture stays honest to the wood. That heavy, burl-front edge sets this apart as a live edge bathroom vanity with real mass, not a thin board on brackets. As a floating vanity shelf, a single vessel basin sits on the smooth top.

Thickness: about 3.5" thick, the same for every size; every size is 18" deep, and because the front is a natural edge the depth varies a little along the piece. The slab hangs on concealed wall brackets that must be fixed into studs; drain and faucet cut-outs can be made to order. The basin, faucet, mirror and decor in the photos are styling only and are not included. Wipe standing water dry.

A deep burl face under a smooth counter

This slab is about 3.5" thick, and its whole front face is left rough, with burl swirls, knots and natural checks. Against limestone blocks it looks like part of the wall, with a smooth top above for a vessel basin.

Fine cracks run through the burl along the front, part of the wood's natural character rather than a flaw. The top is planed smooth so bottles and the basin sit flat.

    Mark the studs

    The concealed brackets must be fixed into studs to carry the slab.

    Drain and faucet cut-outs can be made to order. The basin, faucet and mirror are not included.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

Are the colours exactly as shown in the photos?

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.
Does the item require assembly?

Most items arrive ready to use. Larger shelving and tables ship in a few parts with the fixings and instructions included; assembly is straightforward and needs no special tools.
How is the timber treated?

All timber is kiln dried and treated before finishing, which removes moisture and any insects. Pieces are then sealed with a protective finish.
Do you offer customisation?

Yes. Size, finish and fixing position can be adjusted on most pieces. Send us the dimensions you need and we will confirm the price and lead time before you order.
How should I care for the piece?

Dust with a dry, soft cloth and wipe spills away promptly. Avoid harsh cleaners, standing water, and long spells in direct sun or next to a heat source. A wood conditioner once or twice a year keeps the finish even.
