A soft kidney-shaped top floats over a hand-sculpted base in our Artisan Freeform Coffee Table With Arched Sculptural Base For Living Room, one continuous line of solid wood sweeping up from two curved feet into an open arch. It is an organic modern coffee table, a solid wood coffee table built around curves rather than straight lines.

Shape And Organic Modern Character

The freeform top has no straight edge anywhere along its outline, rounded on every side the way a river stone is, and it rests on a base that curves up and over itself into a single open arch instead of four separate legs. That arch is the whole design idea: one sculptural sweep of wood supporting the top rather than hidden joinery. As a rounded edge coffee table, every corner is soft to the touch as well as the eye.

The soft kidney-shaped top seems to float over a base that rises from two curved feet and joins in an open arch. Every edge is rounded over, so there is no sharp corner anywhere on the piece.

The arch you can see through

Look at the base from the side and the two feet sweep up and meet under the top, leaving a wide opening in the middle. The rug shows through, which keeps a heavy piece of solid wood feeling light in the room.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

It was so much fun to watch, and it made me appreciate the table and the work behind it even more. Are the colours exactly as shown in the photos?

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.
Does the item require assembly?

Most items arrive ready to use. Larger shelving and tables ship in a few parts with the fixings and instructions included; assembly is straightforward and needs no special tools.
How is the timber treated?

All timber is kiln dried and treated before finishing, which removes moisture and any insects. Pieces are then sealed with a protective finish.
Do you offer customisation?
