Product Details

A single tree-root stump carries a long live edge slab far past its own footprint, in our Sculptural Live Edge Console Table With Cantilevered Root Base For Entryway, a live edge entryway table built around one dramatic overhang instead of two end supports. Deep hollows and knots in the stump show through the finish, so the base reads like root sculpture beneath a working surface.

The Sculptural Look

The stump's roots twist and spread low across the floor before rising into a single trunk that meets the underside of the slab off to one side. Because the top cantilevers so far past that trunk, the slab appears to float along most of its length, an effect only a dense, stable root base can support. The grain in the slab and in the stump runs in different directions, so the live edge up top and the carved hollows below read as two distinct textures on one piece. Every hollow and knot sits exactly where the tree grew it, rather than being planned or carved in afterward.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

Are the colours exactly as shown in the photos?

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.
Does the item require assembly?

Most items arrive ready to use. Larger shelving and tables ship in a few parts with the fixings and instructions included; assembly is straightforward and needs no special tools.
How is the timber treated?

All timber is kiln dried and treated before finishing, which removes moisture and any insects. Pieces are then sealed with a protective finish.
Do you offer customisation?
