Our Farmhouse Solid Wood Doorway Arch With Chunky Beam Posts For Entryway is built from three heavy, rough-sawn style beams that fit around an existing doorway: two straight posts and a header that runs slightly past them on both sides. It's a farmhouse wooden arch that gives a plain opening the weight of a real timber frame.

Farmhouse Form And Detail

The posts are thick and square-edged with a rough-sawn surface texture, set plumb on either side of the opening, while the header overhangs each post by a few inches instead of stopping flush. There's no carving or taper here, just the bulk of the beams and the grain across their faces doing the work. Paired with the overhang, it reads as a country timber-frame opening rather than a trimmed-out doorway.

Posts, headers and curved bands are shaped from solid wood and sanded by hand, so the edges you brush past are smooth and the grain runs the full length of each piece.

How is a doorway frame fitted?
It fixes over or inside an existing opening into studs or anchors with the fixings supplied; measure your opening width and height before choosing a size.
Will a freestanding arch stay upright?
The freestanding arches stand on their own base. In a busy hallway we recommend also fixing the top or sides to the wall or floor with the hardware included.
Does it arrive in one piece?
Larger arches ship in sections — posts and header or band halves — and bolt together on site.
How do I care for it?
Dust with a dry cloth; re-oil now and then to keep the finish even.
Do the four tones cost the same?
Yes — Black, Brown, Walnut and Oak are one price; only the size changes it.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

Are the colours exactly as shown in the photos?

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.
Does the item require assembly?

Most items arrive ready to use. Larger shelving and tables ship in a few parts with the fixings and instructions included; assembly is straightforward and needs no special tools.
How is the timber treated?

All timber is kiln dried and treated before finishing, which removes moisture and any insects. Pieces are then sealed with a protective finish.
Do you offer customisation?

Yes. Size, finish and fixing position can be adjusted on most pieces. Send us the dimensions you need and we will confirm the price and lead time before you order.
How should I care for the piece?
