Our Sculptural Solid Wood Curved Doorway Arch With Thick Band For Hallway is shaped from one continuous band of solid wood that loops over the top of the opening and flares wider where each leg meets the floor. It's a wooden curved arch with no straight lines anywhere in the piece.

Organic Modern Form And Detail

The band keeps a thick, even cross-section as it bends, so the curve feels carved from one mass rather than built up from thin pieces. A patchwork of grain segments follows the curve around the loop, and the base of each leg widens into a stable foot instead of tapering to a point. Freestanding and self-supporting, it marks a passage between two rooms without needing a wall or frame.

Posts, headers and curved bands are shaped from solid wood and sanded by hand, so the edges you brush past are smooth and the grain runs the full length of each piece.

How is a doorway frame fitted?
It fixes over or inside an existing opening into studs or anchors with the fixings supplied; measure your opening width and height before choosing a size.
Will a freestanding arch stay upright?
The freestanding arches stand on their own base. In a busy hallway we recommend also fixing the top or sides to the wall or floor with the hardware included.
Does it arrive in one piece?
Larger arches ship in sections — posts and header or band halves — and bolt together on site.
How do I care for it?
Dust with a dry cloth; re-oil now and then to keep the finish even.
Do the four tones cost the same?
Yes — Black, Brown, Walnut and Oak are one price; only the size changes it.

The seller was very communicative throughout the entire process. They built the entire shelf, sent a picture, and allowed us to make modifications such as adding branches and leaves, so that we were perfectly happy with the design. The whole process was fairly quick and everything arrived well packaged. There is some assembly required, the directions are very clear, but you are essentially building a tree branch by branch and trying to mount the shelves level and keep everything secure as you go along. Overall extremely happy with the final product. Such a unique item to have in our home!

Are the colours exactly as shown in the photos?

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is made from solid timber, so grain and tone vary from one item to the next — that variation is the point of a natural material rather than a fault. Screens differ too, so treat the photos as a guide.
Does the item require assembly?

Most items arrive ready to use. Larger shelving and tables ship in a few parts with the fixings and instructions included; assembly is straightforward and needs no special tools.
How is the timber treated?

All timber is kiln dried and treated before finishing, which removes moisture and any insects. Pieces are then sealed with a protective finish.
Do you offer customisation?

Yes. Size, finish and fixing position can be adjusted on most pieces. Send us the dimensions you need and we will confirm the price and lead time before you order.
How should I care for the piece?
